Was Jock Tim Tebow Bullied by "The Gays"?

In an apparent reversal in the age-old saga of jocks bullying gays, it would appear that semi-professional NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has been suffering at the hands of some very intolerant homosexuals.

As mentioned in this diary by Daily Kos's Steveningen, yesterday Tim Tebow cancelled a planned appearance at the Dallas Baptist church of Rev. Robert Jeffress, saying "new information has been brought to my attention."

That new information may have included some of the following Jeffress gems:

Jeffress links Islam and pedophilia:

"The deep, dark, dirty secret of Islam: It is a religion that promotes pedophilia - sex with children...Around the world today, you have Muslim men having sex with 4-year-old girls, taking them as their brides, because they believe the prophet Muhammad did it."

Jeffress calls homosexuals "filthy":

"What they [homosexuals] do is filthy. It is so degrading that it is beyond description. And it is their filthy behavior that explains why they are so much more prone to disease."

Jeffress calls Catholic religion Satanic:

"Much of what you see in the Catholic Church today doesn’t come from God’s word. It comes from that cult-like pagan religion. Isn’t that the genius of Satan?"

Following Tebow's decision to avoid controversy by not appearing at Jeffress's church, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer said that Tebow was jeopardizing his salvation.  On his radio show, Fischer suggested that Tebow had relented after pressure by "bigoted bullies at Big Gay." Fischer said these gay activists now had "another scalp to hang on the wall, they got another notch in the belt" and that they had landed "on him like a falling safe."

Last year Instinct Magazine posited the unlikely but entertaining theory that the NFL's most outspoken Christian might be gay himself.  But Rev. Jeffress assured reporters on Thursday that Tebow shares his views on homosexuality:
"They certainly believe what we do, that salvation is through Christ alone, and about homosexuality. Tim confirmed that to me last night, that they believe exactly what we do about homosexuality."
