It's the Racism and Misogyny, Stupid

Am I the only one getting tired of the endless amount of punditry speculating about why the Presidential race is so close? Why is Trump so darned popular with a certain group of people, who absolutely refuse to abandon him no matter what he does? Why is JD Vance unshakably popular with rightwing dudebros and the forced birth crowd even though virtually the entirety of the rest of the human race finds him to be a colossal feminine hygiene product?

Just stop it already, people. It’s because they’re sexist egotistical lying hypocritical bigots...and everyone knows it. Get real, they know it too. a significant number of them only deny it to the extent they’ve bothered to invent new terms for white supremacy.

I had my fill of it when I heard that Trump Sunday said that Kamala Harris was “born mentally impaired.” Y’know, like every other black person (nudge nudge, wink wink.) Virtually every single thing he says about her is a racist dog whistle, excepting only those things which are accidentally only misogynist rather than being both racist and misogynist.

The Trump campaign is a bet that open racism and misogyny can still win a Presidential election in the United States. It’s shameful that so much of the Courtier Press refuses to say so. It’s even more shameful there’s a chance it may actually work.

I hope we’re going to prove him wrong. I think we will, but this is the time for all good people to do something. Do everything we personally can, as a matter of fact. While we’re at it, let’s drop the charade that America is a “post-racial society,” or that we’ve become color blind, or that the only racism is pointing out racism.

They’re mad because we’re judging them by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Fine. That means we’re doing it right. When you’re fighting for something important, it’s important to have the right enemies. Living in a tolerant society doesn’t mean having to be tolerant of intolerance. Yes, the First Amendment gives them the right to say all manner of nasty things. It doesn’t give them the right to avoid criticism for those nasty things.
