There is a price we as liberals pay for playing along with these games about "how dare he/she call him/herself part of this group" games.
Sometimes it backfires, like in the accusations against Shaun King, because it puts a burden of proof upon people like Shaun to open up the most intimate details of their lives on demand.
I believe in staying out of other people's businesses. I think it is repulsive that anybody thinks we have a right to speculate about Shaun's race or to dig through his past for proof or engage in speculation about his mother's sex life. Repulsive.
Just to be clear, I'm not just blaming right wing nut jobs. I'm blaming liberals on DailyKos too for setting the precedent for this kind of outing and shaming exercise.
I realize there are many people here for whom this has been a fun game up until now. When it affected people we didn't personally like or care about, it was great sport. But I hate this game. Some things are just none of our damn business. Because if it is, then your Mom is fair game, too, just like you are making Shaun's. Think about that.
Some of you people are just too fucking nosy. He doesn't need all this gossipy personal defense, which I am very sure must be hurting him more than the original accusation. The proper response to such accusations is a simple "Oh go fuck yourself."
